I think David once you have bred your int red cock bird and it reaches flighted stage it would be nearly impossible to improve the feather quality and colour at this stage.

I think we may have to go further back in the birds creation, if improvement is to be made.

careful selection and thoughtful pairings of the correct colour and feather quality must be found, as a reasonable starting point.

    Hi David
Well, the next chance to improve the feather quality and color in this case is to wait until the next molt and provide the bird a good and appropriate molt management.
By giving extra B compex vitamins, amino acids and adding some gold of pleasure seeds you can improve the feather quality and force the bird to finish its molt easily. The gold of pleasure helps the feathering to have a silky appearance.
In addition at this time using the appropriate amount of coloring agents, such as intesief from Bogena, you can achieve good results in general.
As you can see all this molting aspect is very contextual to the nutrition, provided by the breeder.

First mention of this seed occurred around 10 years ago. It was claimed by the one breeder who posted about the product that it was a wonderful conditioner and a preventative/curer of coccidiosis which is one of the problems associated with going light.
It is available from a couple of seed merchants over here, but they use the 2001 report from the French breeder I have mentioned as a recommendation. I have no first hand experience with the seed, but considering it is now a decade since it first came to light and it is still virtually unknown I have doubts over it's value

How would you? Empty Foniopaddy seed

Post  brian meichan Sun Jan 03 2010, 16:48

Hi Geoff. I have acquired some of this seed recently from a stall holder at the scottish national. I was asking him about conditioing seed for birds and he mentioned foniopaddy. He told me that the seed comes from Ghana? He said the seed was a study of a french ornathologist who watched birds feeding on the seed and seemed to show an increase in vigour. I have been using the seed for 2 weeks now and have noticed a difference in the birds in the cold weather. (I have no heating in my hut) I give them a small amount in a finger drawer 3 times a week. Do you think this is too much?

Brian, as a preventative I use ESB 3 a sulfonamide about this time of the year also after the breeding season diluted in water for 5 days, eliminates Coccidiosis (going light) very affectively. Going light is only a memory of the past for me!

I travel a lot in Europe, whenever I am near the Dutch border I go to the nearest pharmacy and purchase over the counter.

However in this country it is prescription only medication (POM),
you would have to go to your Vets for treatment.
