Yellow Non Intensive Lutino ? Empty Yellow Non Intensive Lutino ?

    Post  Cath1068 Mon Apr 16 2012, 00:49

I just purchased a hen and I was really looking at her today and noticed her eyes are a very dark ruby red. Not blackish like my others. She looks just like the bird on left thats posted as Lutinos here..... https://colourcanary.forumotion.net/t1361-identification-of-yellow-lipochrome . Can anyone give me info on them and anywhere that may have good reference pics ? I have her in with my Intensive red bird that I thought was a hen but turned out to be a cock bird and they have bred and she laid one egg today that I pulled and gave her a dummy to sit on till she is done laying. Then I will give them back to her to incubate.

    Thank you
    Cath

Cath Lutino's generally are sex linked as I believe they have been bred from Satinette but have lost the markings.
They can be seen on the continent.
The only down side with what you have done is pair her to a Red cock this is not going to do you any favours at all,
you should pair her to a yellow cock and keep the red well away from her.

I hope this helps you. Red Devil

Thank you very much. I do have a gorgeous yellow ticked american singer cock that I had intended to pair her with but it will have to wait till she is done with this clutch if they are fertile. Wont the chicks just be a more muted orange if they get the red factor gene ? It also appears they she is done laying at 3 eggs as the 3rd egg today was much more bluer then the others so time will tell..... Very Happy

The last egg of a clutch is always darker than the others.

You never can tell with how big a clutch is going to be,
anything from 3 to 6 is normal, but there are always exception to the rule, as for the colour of the 3rd egg I wouldn't read to much into that myself as it is what pops out is what we are concern with lol! lol! lol!

As for the colour of the offspring yes it could be anything from orangy yellow right up to a poor red after colour feeding of course.

    I hope this helps.
