if your not showing now will do just a few feathers from the chest colour feed the same as you would a canary and the cock bird will come through red hens wont good luck there little crackers them

one of my redpolls has a slight red breast haven't gave him any colour food so its all done naturally ( guessing hes the male) do they only have red breast in this time of year?

cock redpolls get there colour after the second moult if fed the correct diet or colour fed they have a red cap, red chest and rump. Hens get the red cap, the colour is there all the time not just for breeding season if the birds dont have any colour they have a dull gold colour to the cap hope this helps

sorry the second moult is the second yr they dont get there red chest in the first yr thats why you pluck to sex them only one moult a yr in august to september

oh alright, that was me being stupid lol, has my male had an early moult then?

might of lost a few feathers and when grew back red moons showed up on his chest

okay I understand now, first year of breeding british so im still a lil bet confused on thing

dont forget you need to ring there young size B for redpolls and siskins get them from IOA or british bird council

yeh ive got the rings, also with my colour canaries after they have a moult when theyre 6 weeks old do they have another moult?
