    Thanks Bob fingers crossed but its not the hatching its the rearing I've had many a hen just sit on 4 or 5 chicks until they die. So I have been topping up last year which seemed to work ok

    Touch wood i have only 1 chick that is a bit smaller so i just pop it into nest of youngsters same size, that seems to work for me I have only hand reared or toped up British when i had them.

    2 nests so far one of 4 and one of 3 so far so good all bar one hatched on the same day and I never replace eggs or set them!

    That wsa why I liked the bigger nest pans I had last year...the hen had to build quite a nest to fill it., the chicks then shat on the wide edges of the nest rather than in the box...very messy nest but minimal cleaning of the box...

    Bloody yellow black pastel pair have a second clear round ! Arrrrrrgh well its my best cock bird but I need to try a different cock to see who's firing blanks.
