Should the internal colour of cages be white?

Post  dekspencer on Thu Apr 02, 2015 5:31 am

Hi As a new boy to the world of keeping Canaries I was lucky enough to purchase cages from someone who was giving up the hobby. The internal of the cages are natural wood colour but all the images of cages I have seen the insides are white. The cages seem rather dark not painted.....Derek

I painted mine white simply for more light when breeding,,,as I breed mine indoors,,,and the window is small,,,i also bought a full spectrum bulb,,,the nursery cages however I painted the same blue as the showcages,,,so the young get used to the colour,,,hope this helps,,,johnboy... study

ive seen some cages literally wallpapered pete affraid lol! lol! ,,,the young lad pasted woodland scenes on the back of his double breeders,,,and if I do say so myself it looked brilliant when he took photos,,,but then the crap etc accumulated and he ended up stripping and painting them,,,plus the birds had a bit pick and pulled strips off,,,didn't look so good then,,,all a learning curve for him Mad Mad ,,,johnboy... study
