is this bird sick

is my siskin ill or am I being paranoid?












also got these from a pet shop today

Doesn't look particularly I'll, might be overweight which is a problem with siskins check the bodyfat by blowing the feathers on its breast.

Have to agree looks more overweight than sick . basic seed mix cut out fatty seeds and into a flight or large flight cage for a few weeks should be ok.

It looks to me that it is a hen and she could be fluffed up a little, has she laid any eggs ?
It's possible she could be egg bound
You could place some heat on her in the form of a electric light which help her if she is.

hi devil, yes she is a hen and she hasn't laid any eggs yet im waiting to get for the temp to pick up more and I have put her in a big budgie cage with a heat lamp, would've put her in me aviary but its a bit cold atm

Those mosaics you got from the pet shop dont look too bad , the hen looks quite good and both look good colour well done for buying them at a pet shop.

How's the hen doing ?

if you,ve got an outside flight stick the siskins in the cold wont bother them and it will get the fat off

chucked her out in the aviary she started to look real rough so brang her back in and put her in a 6 foot cage

bit of an update on me birds, got 1 pair of mosaics laying a clutch, 1 pair of mosaics n 2 pairs of red blacks just finished making nests and me siskin egg!! redpolls arnt doing too much just feeding each other.

any advice on breeding me siskins and what to do with the polls

Didn't c siskins had layed just give live food egg food n dandilions

cheers Darren, I only have one chick now, don't think shes liking the rings as she rips there legs off what shall I do?

Put a plaster over the ring it blends it in with the leg works most of the time
