Comments on the second month of my breeding season.....

So far I am reasonably happy...

At last the satinette has come into condition and has busily built a nest. Out of the 3 suitors I have, the Belgian one looks the best so he has got first shot. rabbit

Glad to see all going well and the topping up is working its a bit of a faff but its worth it. What I also do is just top up the smallest in the nest sometims it's amazing how you see it catch up! Good luck with the rest of the season.

I dont remove the eggs THIS TIME for my first rounds I did.

They do hatch a bit staggered but it is not as bad as it first seems take the Red black that had two...one hatched on Saturday and one hatched on Sunday but in reality they were less than 24 apart and both seem the same size today - Monday.
I think they hatch with enough food nourishment for upto 24 hours so as long as the difference is not more than 24 hours they should be OK.

One thing about removing the eggs you dont forget to note down when they are likely to hatch !!! Even when I do note it down, those that I dont remove always seem to hatch the day before I expect them. It is always a surprise (pleasant.) when I find them.

I mainly tried it out a it is one less worry for me if it works...when I was ill recently it was a real struggle looking after the birds EVEN THOUGH I had all day to do it.
